    Dear Parents,

Can you believe we are finishing our first unit in Reading this week! Last week we read about an Alaskan pig named Julius. The story focused on how animals and people work together. We focused on the letter Mm, stretching the sound and adding other sounds to make words. The children are learning about Nouns: person, place, thing and animals. They are also learning about characters in our stories.

We are singing God is Bigger than the Boogie Man”. It is an adorable song about God is bigger than all the fears you can have. One verse mentioned Godzilla.   In our story Julius, it shows him watching the old movie of Godzilla. It’s great to compare our story to our song!

In Math, we have finished our second topic. We will learn about the numbers 6 - 10 in topic three. In Religion, we are celebrating the month of the Rosary, by praying a decade of the Rosary daily.

We are practicing our handwriting daily. The children have started using their handwriting books. You can really see how much they have improved. We also use our “phones” or “toobaloos” to listen to ourselves read. The children get a big kick out of this, but they also correct the pronunciation of the words.

We had fun going on a leaf hunt last week. The children found 5 different types of leaves then did leaf rubbings. We also did leaf papers with our Buddies. Next week we’ll be learning about pumpkins. The children presented their Family Pumpkin Projects. They did an amazing job speaking in front of the class describing their pumpkins. They are very impressive! I will be hanging them in the hallway!

The weather is getting colder. Please dress your child warmly as we go out to play in the morning and afternoon.Remember,  make sure that every item of clothing is labeled with your child’s name on it. With the cooler weather, there are many sweaters and sweatshirts that are taken off and we can not match up the owner!

    Weekly reminders:

Library books are due on or before Mondays.

Friday, October 19th: Field Trip to Connors Farm!! Children wear their gym uniforms, bring a disposable lunch and drink. I will send a reminder home on Thursday.

    Have a great week!
