We are getting closer to celebrating the birth of Jesus! We added our second candle to our advent wreath. Last week, Hope was the theme for the first week of Advent, this week we are focusing on Peace. The anticipation that Jesus is coming, and we strive to have Peace in our hearts. The children in grades Kindergarten through grade 3 meet in the hallway on Tuesday mornings to learn and pray about Advent.Even though we can feel overwhelmed with the season, it is such a treat to see the excitement in their eyes.
We have so many projects to do this week. One project that we will do is so close to my heart. the children will pray the “Our Father” and the “Hail Mary”., then say a silent prayer to keep others in their heart. Thee children will have their hands painted and write…”These hands prayed for you”. Each will be given to a patient at the Bear Hill Nursing Home and extra one sent home to give to someone special. At this time of the year with the
holidays fast approaching, the children are focused on their schoolwork in the mornings, the afternoons are filled will fun activities.
In Language Arts, the children will have their 2nd benchmark test.
. We are starting our third unit. It will focus on how things grow and change. The story “Little Panda”, is a true story that documents the first year of a panda’s life. We have learned nouns and adjectives, and this week I am introducing verbs, or action words. Three new ❤ words are introduced this week: me, she, with.
In Math, are mathematicians have finished addition and we are now learning about subtraction.
Next week will be a review week, no new story will be started. We will be concentrating on practice for the Christmas Concert and finishing up special crafts.
