It has been another busy week for the superheroes.  We completed the MAP test on Wednesday.  Some students had a hard time moving the mouse when answering the questions, so I am sure this will affect their score.  I am not worried because I know they will show lots of progress when they take it again in the spring. They are working very hard and I can already tell that they are getting more comfortable when reading out loud.  They are already learning how to segment and sound out unfamiliar words!

We finished the third story in Reading Street and were assessed in comprehension and spelling.  I have been impressed with students who are putting forth their best effort in completing homework neatly and completely.  We began using editing marks to correct spelling sentences.

We finished Chapter 1 in math and students were assessed.  Next week you will begin to see a page from the math book that says “Practice” in the green folder that should be done for homework and sent back the next day.  I will send home this page on Wednesdays for now.  Be on the lookout!

We used our watercolors to paint our guardian angels today.  We will celebrate the Feast of the Guardian Angels tomorrow.  They are hanging in our classroom so we are surrounded by angels.  The students also named their angels.

We are praying a decade of the rosary each day during morning prayer for those that are sick..  Please send in rosary beads with your child if you have them.

Caitlyn was our super star student this week.  We learned that she loves her brother so much that she wants him to be her sidekick.  She and her brother were in the newspaper when they met Santa!  Her favorite book is Green Eggs and Ham, one of my favorites, too!  Next week, Calvin will be our star student.

Casual For a Cause is on Tuesday.  Donate $1.00 and wear yellow or animal prints for PAWS.

We will have our spelling and reading assessments on Thursday next because there is no school on Friday.  So homework baggies are due that day.

Scholastic book orders will be processed over the weekend, so you still have time to order today!

Hope you enjoy the extra long weekend.  There is no school on Friday for a teacher professional day.
