    February 11, 2022

It was great to have a five day week with no storms to worry about.  The superheroes worked very hard, but we had some fun along the way.

The students really enjoyed this week’s story.  Every one of them are natural born actors.  They had fun performing our play.  We took our show on the road and performed for the Kindergartners.  The students will have their benchmark test next week and we will finish reading the short stories and poems in the back of our book.  We will not begin our new reading text until after the February break.  The homework will be sent home each night during the coming week and should be brought back the next day.  It will go home in the green folders each day.

We finished Chapter 7 in math and students were tested on the material.  I also taught them a card game to help with adding and subtracting.  This may be something you can play at home.  Your child should be able to explain it to you.

We read about Abraham Lincoln today and learned some interesting facts about his life.  Next week we will continue to learn about our first president and compare and contrast  the two presidents.  Students will then create some posters about the presidents and each group will present their poster to the class.

We did not have a superstar student this week, but next week’s superstar will be Caden.

.Report cards are in the green folders.  Please review, sign and return by Monday.

It will be a half day on March 4th.  If you would like a conference, just let me know and I’ll set up a time.  I will be available from noon to 2:00.

On Monday we will celebrate Valentine’s Day.  Hopefully, you found the names of our class in the green folders yesterday.  We will have our party in the afternoon.  Students may wear red/pink /Valentine’s Day clothing and donate $1.00 to the American Heart Association.

I’m sure you heard that the mask mandate for schools will end next Friday.  When we return from break we will not have to wear them.  However, if you would like your child to continue to wear the mask, this will not be an issue.

Have a wonderful weekend.  Enjoy the 50 + degree weather tomorrow!
