Mrs. Mason - Grades 5-8 Social Studies, Grades 6-8 Religion
My approach to teaching is centered around the idea that students learn most effectively when they are given an active role in the classroom. I design lessons that invite them to question, create, discuss, and experience history and religion in ways that feel meaningful and relevant.
I incorporate student-led discussions to encourage ownership of ideas and thoughtful dialogue. Project-based learning allows students to dive into topics, collaborate, and showcase their understanding in creative ways. Through hands-on activities, students build connections by doing, not just observing. With role-playing, they step into the shoes of historical figures or explore religious stories with empathy and perspective.
I strive to create a learning environment where students feel confident sharing their voices, engaging with complex ideas, and exploring different viewpoints. My goal is for them to leave the classroom not only informed, but capable of thinking critically, communicating clearly, and approaching the world with curiosity and respect.
