Poetry Contest Winners

Saint Joseph School students performed in our school-wide annual Poetry and Speech Contest.  Students from Kindergarten to Grade 6 were challenged with memorizing and reciting a favorite age appropriate poem or writing and performing their own original poetry.  Students in Grades 7 & 8 were challenged with selecting a socially significant speech at least 2-4 minutes in length, memorizing and reciting their speech. Every student competed in their classroom challenges and the winners from each classroom competed on stage in front of our three selected community judges!

Our first place winner in the recitation of poetry for students in Kindergarten through Grade 2 was Kyle Chiang.  A three way tie for second place was shared by Katelyn WalshCora Cooper and Marie Jagiello. Equally talented our winner in the Kindergarten through Grade 2 original Poetry competition was Samantha White.  A two way tie for second place was shared by Aubrey Babineau and Bruno Hubbard.

In Grades 3-4 recitation competition, Lindsay Connor took first place.  Gabriella Guerriero clinched second place with Clara Getty taking third place!  Brady Payne was the first place winner of the original poetry competition for Grades 3-4, while Nathan Manoj and Jamie Norton tied for second place!

Grades 5-6 recitation first place winner was Adrian Babu.  Priscilla Srikanth took second place and Ryan Buonopane finished third.  The original poetry contest for Grades 5-6 saw Hugo Brown take the blue ribbon while Thomas Pote came in second, followed by Harry Brown in third place.

Our 7th and 8th graders rose to the challenge of this year’s speech contest and the judging was extremely difficult.  Grace Hoag took the gold with her recitation of the Gettysburg address. Carlyanna Mathieu took the silver and Gabriella Minasian was our third place winner.

Congratulations to all of our winners and participants!
