    Dear Grade 3 Parents,

First of all, I want to thank all of you for the wonderful examples that you obviously set for your children in order for them to be kind, polite, caring to each other, to me, and to everyone they come in contact with.πŸ˜‡ This past week was a very exciting week with all of the activities involving HalloweenπŸŽƒ, and yet each child in Grade 3 was able to have a wonderful time without getting carried away and having it affect the quality of their work.πŸ“š They were appreciative and polite the entire week. That is truly a reflection on your great parenting skills. May God bless each one of youπŸ™ for trying your best to instill these values in your children in a society that often promotes greed and self entitlement. A+ from the bottom of my heart to each of you dedicated parents.πŸ†

This week is a four day week for the students, because Friday will be an all day faculty meeting as our school prepares for our reaccreditation with the National Education Association of Schools and Colleges.(NEASC).There will be no school this Friday for the children. Therefore, I have reorganized my lesson plans so that the reading and spelling test for this week's story will be on Thursday, November 7, 2019.

Last week's story titled Penguin chick also combined some geography where the children learned about the South Pole and how Antarctica is the coldest place on earth. Each child was assigned a leveled reader about Penguins and our classroom Penguin family became quite popular.🐧 I am sending you a picture of our class with our Penguin family which made this past week story very enjoyable as well as educational.

I sent you an email with this week's calendar at a glance and I will give you a hard copy on Monday so that you will know which subjects will be given for homework on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evening. There will be no homework on Thursday evening because the children will be having a four day weekend which includes Veterans Day coming up on November 11, 2019. I will also make sure that the children complete a Veterans Day packet so that they will know the true meaning of why they have next Monday off.

Our one month pet food, supplies and treats for PAWS and local animal shelters, in honor of Saint Francis, finished on Halloween and I am happy to let you know that I can already tell it was a huge success.πŸ‘ This week, the third grade students will sort and organize all of the items that have been collected. We will have group activities which involve estimated price sheets that I will give to each child, and each group of children will estimate and use their math money skills so that we can get an approximate amount of the value of everything collected in addition to the actual cash which was collected on the casual for a cause day and money and gift cards that were donated by families in the school and the parish. I will update you when we have compiled all of our monetary results. This project not only teaches the children about real life money situations, but it also gives them such a great feeling of accomplishment for such a worthy cause.

Please download and read my academic word document that describes in detail what we will be doing this week in Religion; Reading; Spelling; Phonics; Grammar; and Math.πŸ“ πŸ’»

I cannot believe that the first term ends this Thursday, November 7, 2019. They say that "time flies when you're having fun"βŒšβ°πŸ•°πŸ•›. The children and I often laugh about how quickly the days pass by, and how we are active every single minute of the day.

May God Bless ALL of you.πŸ™
