On January 10, Mr. Shattuck invited one of his research colleagues, Haley Talbot, also an SJS alumna, to present a brief presentation of the MIT Internship Program. During the summer Mr. Shattuck, an MIT research affiliate, runs a 6-week internship program as part of the outreach of Professor Markus Buehler's Lab.
Steve Seracuse & Keith McInnis read to the 4th grade & Dan Hubbard read to the 3rd grade the book Twenty-One Steps, a book celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. They read during Veterans Day week to help our students celebrate our Veterans. The students asked very thoughtful & insightful questions & the veterans responded with equally thoughtful answers. The students learned a lot about being in the military & what it is like to serve while being deployed to another country during a war & what it is like to serve here in the U.S. When they were finished the students all asked when they could come back again. We are so grateful for our current military reader, Mr. Hubbard, & our veteran readers, Mr. McInnis & Mr. Seracuse, for volunteering their time.
