    Saint Joseph School is pleased to offer a quality Pre-Kindergarten program that provides an enriching introduction to learning. We understand that children need to know that God loves them and created them as unique, special individuals.  Our program helps children to build self-esteem and self-confidence, fosters curiosity and creative expression, and teaches children to relate to new adults and cooperate with other children. Through a blend of developmentally appropriate and school readiness activities, children in Pre-School/Pre-Kindergarden Program will gain the required skills necessary for Kindergarten.

    Mission:

    The Mission of the Saint Joseph School Early Childhood Program is to produce children with basic skills in learning in a nurturing, safe and loving environment based on the principles and philosophy of faith formation of the Catholic church.

    Half-Day Programs:

    • 3-year old (2 days/week)
      • Must be 3 years old by 12/01/24
      • Days: Tuesday/Thursday
      • Hours: 8:15am - 12:30pm

            4-year old (3 days/week)     

    • must be 4 years old by 12/31/2024      
    • Days: Monday, Wednesday and Friday     
    • Hours: 8:15-12:30
    •  
    • 4-year old (5 days/week) 
      • Must be 4 years old by 12/31/24
      •  Days: Monday thru Fridays 
      • Hours: 8:15am - 12:30pm           

     

     

    School Day Program: (Options to choose  3 or 4 days if available)

    •  4-year old (5 days/week) School Day
      • Must be 4 years old by 12/31/24
      • Days: Monday thru Fridays
      • Hours: 8:15 -2:30pm
    •  3-year old (5 days/week) School Day
      • Must be 3 years old by 12/01/24
      • Days: Mondays thru Fridays
      • Hours: 8:15am - 2:30pm
      • After School Program available from 2:30 PM - 5:30 pm Mondays-Fridays

     Early Childhood Summer Program (separate payment for June thru August):

    • 3 and 4-year-olds
      • Days: Monday thru Friday
      • Hours: 8:30am - 5:00pm  

     

    PROGRAM CURRICULUM:

    Catholic Religion

    The children are currently using the program I AM Special (5th edition) by Joan Ensor Plum and Paul S Plum. The program is designed to increase their knowledge of God and friendship with Jesus, in addition to developing positive attitudes about themselves, their family, and friends. The use of stories, songs,  prayers, and art projects enhances the experience of gaining knowledge of their Catholic faith. We pray to Our Father, Hail Mary daily. 

    Literacy

    The literacy program includes:

    • Exposure to the alphabet including names and sounds
    • Recognizing and writing the first name
    • Retelling stories
    • Building vocabulary
    • Introducing sight words
    • Sequencing
    • Building listening skills
    • Drawing pictures and dictating sentences about experiences
    • Answering questions about stories
    • Repeating simple finger-plays and rhymes

    Math Readiness

    Math readiness explores the recognition of colors, shapes, patterns, and numbers 1 to 20. The children learn one-to-one correspondence, sorting, matching, counting, sequencing, and spatial relationships. The program introduces time and money through games and pretends play.

    Social Development

    Social development concentrates on:

    • Communication on needs
    • Practice at problem-solving
    • Working in groups 

    Special Programs

    The children also participate in a Library Program, Gym, and Music classes.
