Lorraine DiBenedetto - Kindergarten Teacher
About Me:I am originally from Everett. I am the youngest of six children, I have 4 sisters and 1 brother! I have lived in Wakefield for over 20 years. My husband is Larry and we have two wonderful children, Ryan and Lindsay and two beautiful English Setter dogs, Ginger and Gabby! I love anything to do with this amazing town! Family is everything to me, I am constantly doing day trips on the weekends with my sisters. My daughter now lives in New York City, so there are a lot of road trips in my future. My husband and I love to travel. We try to escape to the Caribbean at least once a year. My son coaches many sports teams so I am always cheering from the sidelines! I love all our home teams, but I have to root for Villanova basketball!
Education:I received my Bachelors Degree from Boston State College. I have worked at Tall Spire, Woodville and for the past 14 years, St. Joseph's school. I love to continue to take education courses and incorporate what I learn in my classroom. I have a passion for classes that are hands-on and will affect the children's life. Teaching the children about which way the wind blows, the difference between a male and female chickadee song, or knowing a squirrel nest from a bird nest, that is what gets me excited to teach. I was a Religious Education teacher at Saint Joseph Parish during my children's youth.
Favorite Part of Being a Teacher at SJS:Everyday I wake up I cannot wait to get to work. I love every aspect of my job. I love how I can be over the top wearing costumes, to kneeling down next to a child to make them feel safe and happy. The closeness of the staff is a blessing. It gives me the opportunity to share ideas and to get advice. The parents are an extension of this wonderful school family. Their support over the years makes me love my job even more! One of the most gratifying aspects of working at Saint Joseph's is to watch the students grow and flourish. To be able to watch them in Middle School and knowing that you shaped a part of them when they were 5 and 6 is such a feeling of self worth.
