    9/19/25

We finished the second story in our reading series and students had their assessment today.  I read the questions and choices to the students.  They decided on the best answer.  We also had a Word Study (spelling) assessment on this week’s short i words. They are doing well with sounding out the phonemes as well as well as writing the graphemes.  Students should also practice reading and spelling the high frequency words each night.  Try to make time to read with your child before bedtime even though you are exhausted.  It will definitely pay off!

Homework seems to be going well.  When turning in homework baggies, you do not need to send back the decodable readers. Keep them home for practice.  Check green folders daily for all the work we have done on that particular day. You may see lists of words so they can practice the sounds of the week.

In math we completed Chapter 1 and students were tested on it. Students should have a good grasp of adding or subtracting two groups as well as understanding the part-part-whole concept.  Please make sure math homework is returned the very next day so we can correct it together.

Our first superstar student of the year was Domniki.  Her favorite color is white and her superhero is an angel.  If she could help the world be a better place she would stop all the stealing.  We enjoyed seeing all her special show and tell items this week, especially her marathon bear.  Next week, Thea will be our superstar student.

We practiced using the mouse this week in preparation for the MAPS testing which students will take on Oct. 1st.

Casual for a Cause is next Friday, Sept. 26th.  Students may wear purple or gray colored casual clothes and donate $1.00 to support the Alzheimer’s Association.

Please find the Scholastic Books order form in the green folder today.  Ordering needs to be done online.  My access code is NDQW3.  I will be putting in the order next weekend.

If you have not yet sent back the forms that were in the Back to School Night folder, please do so.  If you are not getting my Remind messages, just let me know what phone number to use and I will send the invite. This will help to keep you informed about classroom activities.

Mrs. King and I are in the process of booking a field trip to the Topsfield Fair for October 9th.  The 4th graders are our buddies.  We will need chaperones!  All chaperones MUST have taken the Protecting God’s Children workshop and make a copy of the certificate for the office in order to be a chaperone.

    Have a great weekend!
