Yesterday was a surprise! I hope the snow day didn’t cause too much of a hassle for you.
This week the students learned how to use a Venn diagram to compare and contrast our story about life today and long ago. We all agreed that life is easier today because we have all kinds of machines that help us.
We continued to compare two digit numbers in math and reviewed the chapter today. The students will be assessed on this chapter on Monday. Students seem to have a good understanding of this concept. This week we practiced subtracting two digit numbers. Please continue to practice facts so these are committed to memory which will help the students so they do not need to use their fingers
Nadia was our star student this week. Her favorite colors are green and blue. If she could make the world a better place, she would like all to be given grace. Her hero is her mom because she takes such good care of her. We were impressed with all her special treasures from home, especially the Nutcracker mice. Next week, Cosmo will be our superstar student.
This week, Katherine’s parents were our Mystery Readers and taught us about Lunar New Year. They also gave each of us a goody bag filled with Chinese artifacts. We love learning about other cultures!
Next Thursday, we will celebrate our 100th day of school. Please have your child bring in 100 of something. For example, 100 pieces of cereal, 100 piece puzzle, 100 M & M’s, 100 buttons, etc. will be perfect! We will practice putting them into groups.
On Friday, we will have our Valentine’s Day party in the afternoon. Students may wear red or pink and donate $1.00 to the American Heart Association.
Report cards are in the green folders. If you would like a conference, please let me know and we’ll arrange a time to meet.
Have a great weekend! Let’s hope there won’t be too much snow. I hear there’s a football game this Sunday evening. Go Eagles!
