Thank you for all the Valentine’s cards, sweets, and gifts! We had a fun day filled with Valentine activities. Thanks to all who contributed to make our party special! We also had fun on our 100th day of school yesterday. You should see the photos of what your children will look like when they are 100 years old. I have never laughed so hard. They will be sent home eventually. Students wrote about what they think they will be doing when they reach 100 years old.
We finished Unit 3 in our Wonders reading series. When we return from break, students will have a benchmark test on the first 3 units. I will also test their fluency to see how many words they can read in one minute.
In math, we have completed 7 chapters and will begin Chapter 8 when we return from break. Some students are still very weak in knowing their + and - facts. Please practice with them. They will not be able to add or subtract two-digit numbers if they don’t know their facts.
After reading about Abraham Lincoln and George Washington, the students collaborated in groups to create posters about them. It was very interesting to see how the various groups worked together.
Thank you to Mrs. Kennett and Mrs. Santiago, our Mystery Readers this week.
Congratulations goes out to Sayu, who won a medal in her chess competition.!
This week, our superstar student, Cosmo, would like to make sure the oceans remain clean for all the fish. His hero is his dad and his favorite colors are silver and gold. We enjoyed seeing all his special treasures, especially his wrestling belt! The next superstar will be Chiara when we return from winter break
Looking ahead, Friday, Feb. 28th is an early release day at 11:20. Unfortunately, I will not be available in the afternoon for conferences. If you would like one, please let me know and we’ll figure out a convenient time.
Have you purchased your ticket to the 100th Anniversary Gala? There are not many Catholic schools that have made it to 100!!! Let’s celebrate this feat!
Enjoy the winter break!
