Another very busy week, writing about classmates, working on our Mother’s Day project, learning about some of our 50 states, and preparing to lead today’s liturgy.   We even had time to celebrate my birthday!   I loved the students’ cards!  The cupcakes (Renee) were yummy!  The gorgeous flowers brightened my day!  Thank you so much for EVERYTHING!

We completed Story 4 in Unit 5 of our reading series, but because the students did such a phenomenal job with the Mass this morning, I decided to give everyone 100% on the reading and spelling tests today without even taking them!  I hope this doesn’t upset you too much.

In math, the students were assessed on Chapter 11.  Most did very well.  We began Chapter 12 which focuses on how to tell time to the hour and half hour.  Most students understand this concept, so I expect to move through this quickly.

We began to learn about the 50 states in ABC order.  We’ve done eight so far.  If you want to play the states song...here is the version I use - The Fifty States Song!  by Eddy J. Lemberger.

Each student received their poem for our Poets’ Tea, which will be held on Thursday, May 22nd after lunch.  Hopefully, if weather permits, it will be in the schoolyard.  If not, we will have it in the church hall.  Students should have their poem memorized and also have a prop to show that goes along with their poem.

Thank you to Mrs. DiNitto for coming in to read to us as our Mystery Reader.  We loved the aquatic headbands!

We will practice for the MAPS test next Friday  1 and then on the following Thursday and Friday the students will take the Reading and Math tests to measure their growth for the year.

Next Friday, class pictures will be taken.  Class A uniforms should be worn.

On May 16th, we will have a Casual for a Cause dress down day for the Honor Flight Network.   Please donate $1.00 and wear Patriotic attire - red, white and blue.

    Have a wonderful weekend!
