What a phenomenal job helping your children with their leprechaun traps! I am pretty sure we will catch one this year. We even made a rainbow in a jar in hopes of attracting a leprechaun on Sunday evening before it gets dark! We’ll see what happens on Monday morning.
This week’s story was about vultures. We learned that they like to eat things that REEK!. After they eat the dead animal, they preen (clean) themselves. We also learned the difference between to search and to seek. We are expanding our vocabulary. Students need to practice their heart words during the week.
In math, students were assessed on Chapter 8. We did Test A for practice and then did Test B the next day. Some are still having difficulty with adding groups of 10 to a number. Keep practicing this at home.
Brooke was our superstar student of the week. Her favorite colors are gold and green and she would like to keep everyone safe if she could make the world a better place to live in. We loved her sparkly poster and all her special treasures from home, especially her Barbie dolls! Next week, C.J. will be our star student.
Thank you to this week’s Mystery Reader, Mrs. Screnci, who read a story about how to trap a leprechaun. She surprised each student with a goodie bag filled with St. Patrick’s Day items.
Monday, St. Patrick’s Day is a casual day. Students may wear green and donate $1.00 to the Type 1 Diabetes Foundation. Don’t forget the $1.00!
On next Wednesday we will attend the 9:00 Mass in honor of St. Joseph’s feast day. Students should still wear gym uniforms.
Don’t forget to get your tickets for Mary Poppins There are eight first graders in the production. I hope you will come and see this fun performance which takes place on Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon, March 29th and 30th at the Galvin Middle School right here in town.
Enjoy the weekend.
